From oil fields to geotechnical engineering at Geonor

An exciting start

Meet Natalia Maronni. She has recently taken on the role of project manager at Geonor, and is looking forward to what the job can bring in terms of new experiences and projects.

An international journey

Natalia is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she studied and completed a bachelor's degree in geology. "I started working on an oil field in 2011, and in 2014 I got an international assignment in Norway. The plan was for me to be here for two years, but I really enjoyed it, and at the same time met my husband. Eventually, I chose to do a master's degree in Oslo in 2018," she says.

After several years in the oil industry, Natalia sought new challenges. “I got a job as a junior project manager, but after a while I wanted more responsibility. When I saw the job advertisement from Geonor, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

Why Geonor?

– What appealed to you most about this role and the company? – I wanted a varied workday and the opportunity to be involved in several aspects of the projects. At Geonor, I could combine fieldwork with responsibility for planning and reporting. It was precisely this combination of responsibility and development that made me know this was the right job for me.

The role of project manager

As a project manager, Natalia has already noticed how important organization and overview are. “A lot of my role is about structuring the projects better and ensuring good customer contact. I also work with planning and following up on the various programs we use,” she explains.

– What do you see as the biggest challenges in the job? – There are many programs and a lot of data that need to be connected. It takes time to learn how everything fits together, she says.

Good reception

Natalia says she has been welcomed by the team. “It feels like I’ve been here for ten years already. Everyone is incredibly nice,” she says with a smile.

A typical week

Mondays start with joint meetings where projects are reviewed, tasks are discussed and priorities are set. “New requests or challenges often arise that require flexibility. We plan as best we can, but we must always be prepared for changes,” says Natalia.

Teamwork and motivation

For Natalia, communication and collaboration are the keys to success. “I try to have an open dialogue with my colleagues. If they have any questions or need help, they can always come to me, and I do the same.”

Future prospects for Geonor

Natalia believes in growth at Geonor. “We work on both projects and product sales. I think we will attract larger projects and customers in the future, so it is exciting to be part of this journey,” she concludes.
