Sustainability in Geonor

Precise data for a changing planet

– We deliver data that makes it possible to understand, adapt and secure the future.

Sustainability is an integral part of Geonor. Since 1957, we have supplied instruments that enable public agencies, engineers and research communities to monitor how environmental and climate conditions change over time. To solve today's climate challenges, we must first understand them. Through our solutions, we contribute to society making knowledge-based choices to secure life, values and natural resources. Our long experience gives us the insight needed to assist those who demand precision in an unpredictable nature. We also take responsibility for our own impact and continuously work to minimize our company's environmental footprint. This means that we choose solutions that last and place strict demands on both our own processes and our suppliers.

Environmental monitoring products

The technology we deploy in the field is our most important contribution to sustainability. Geonor's instruments are used in over 100 countries and monitor groundwater, precipitation and soil conditions. The data collected lays the foundation for climate adaptation, secure infrastructure and research. Through products such as the T-200B for precipitation measurement and advanced piezometers for monitoring ground stability, we deliver the precision needed to understand natural changes, warn of floods and prevent landslides. By digitizing this monitoring with IoT-based technology, we also reduce the need for physical field visits. This saves time, resources and CO₂ emissions for our customers, and enables effective monitoring right from the office.

How we take responsibility

Life cycle and reuse

We view our products and services from a lifecycle perspective – from production to disposal. The instruments we deliver are designed to last, and through regular calibration, service and spare parts support we extend the life of the equipment and ensure accurate data for many years. We also offer rentals for short-term projects, sort internally and ensure responsible recycling of electronic waste through our producer responsibility agreement in Norsirk.

Responsible value chain

We choose our suppliers carefully and require our partners to follow sustainable guidelines. All our products comply with RoHS and REACH regulations, which restrict the use of environmentally harmful substances. In addition, we prioritize local players where possible, both to ensure short-distance services and to support local businesses.

Lower transport emissions

We plan and coordinate freight transport to reduce driving. By using electric vehicles for local assignments, limiting business travel, and choosing the most environmentally friendly freight options, we cut our own emissions and reduce our overall environmental impact.

Continuous improvement

Sustainability is an ongoing process, not a project with an end date. We actively seek out more environmentally friendly materials and chemicals, and change our practices as soon as better alternatives become available. Through our certifications, we also commit to systematic environmental management and regular review of our own impact.

Certifications

through our ISO 14001 certification. Together with our ISO 9001 certification for quality management, we ensure continuous improvement, documented processes and high quality in everything we do. For you as a customer, this means reliable equipment, accurate data over time and the peace of mind that we take responsibility for all our products – from factory to field.
